Like people, buildings have personalities. Some are warm and welcoming, others cool and reserved. Like a person, a building displays many faces, one face in the daylight, another at night; one face in summer, another in winter. Light, shadow, sun, and clouds play on its face. Outside and inside both reveal its character. Like a living being, it is complex in its contrasts.
The built environment has always fascinated me. I grew up surrounded by old buildings. These buildings were design by European architects using different architectural styles and many were built several hundred years ago. Then, I got introduced to modern architecture in North America. I am just as excited to photograph modern buildings as I am to shoot old buildings.
